Empathy is often mistaken for softness.
But the truth is, it takes strength to lead with empathy.
Years back, when I returned to a full-time corporate role after years of freelancing and raising my children, I didn’t come back unsure or hesitant.
I came back stronger, braver and more intentional than ever. And interestingly, it was parenting that first showed me how powerful empathy can be.
The way I could calm a storm, encourage effort or boost confidence, just by understanding deeply and responding with care. It taught me that empathy isn’t passive.
It’s transformational.
That same mindset now helps me lead with clarity, compassion, and strength at work. Because empathy isn’t a “soft skill.”
It’s a superpower.
I have always believed that leadership isn’t about titles. It’s about how you make others feel in your presence.
Whether it’s helping a colleague find their voice in a tense meeting or giving someone space when life gets overwhelming. Such moments aren’t just about kindness. They are about creating psychological safety, trust and high-performing teams.
Empathy drives results. It builds loyalty.
And it’s one of the most strategic skills any leader can develop. Especially in today’s fast-paced, high-stakes work culture. I don’t just admire empathetic leadership.
I live it.
